UP
UP is the new Pixar film and I know I'm going to LOVE this movie for two reasons: the old man reminds me of my dad so much, and it involves traveling around the world!!!
A 78 year old man embarks on a world adventure as a promise to his dead wife. He fills his house with balloons to fly around the world, and accidentally takes the awesome clueless boyscout with him.
It looks absolutely amazing, and I'm so excited to see it!
Here is the trailer!! Pixar's UP

Museum of Natural History
The Museum of Natural History is one of my favorites. Every room was interesting, and the rotunda with the large mammoth is beautiful. There were a million people streaming through the rotunda though, so I didn't stay long. My favorite exhibit was the butterflies room. A large chamber of imported butterflies lies in the middle of the exhibit, and for $6, you can interact with them in that chamber.
You are allowed to take as many pictures as you want, and they are likely to land on you as well. I think my jacket was too neutral a color, because none landed on me. I was a little bummed, but I did get some great shots on Macro feature. This is Darwin's Orchids exhibit. Although small, the orchids are absolutely stunning, and the aroma of the flowers permeate through the bottom floor of the museum.

Lincoln Memorial @ Night
Coming here at night was the best. The Great Emancipator shines in the night and he is so peaceful. I was overwhelmed looking up at him. This is my favorite memorial by far.
The night time takes a different perspective of the Reflecting Pool. It seems more regal and mysterious to me, and I love the graininess in this pic. The obelisk here, with the dark night and graininess, looks like a scene from a sci fi movie.
After a wonderful steak dinner at Sonoma, one of the nice restaurants on the Senate side of the Capitol, I had to cab here for this pic. I wished the pic captures the luminiscence of Abe better to contrast against my dress, but it was freezing so this the best I got. Photoshoppers, take a stab at it if the lighting bothers so you much. ^_^

the white house
We saw the Obama girls in the front lawn playing, but that was it. They require you to reserve a tour at least a month in advance so seeing the area where Jack Bauer saved the president didn't happen. Booo.
I was happy, however, that the day was gorgeous and sunny. I put on my Jackie O outfit instead of my wool turtleneck, mittens, and scarves...and hopped around the city with a tripod and cam.

walking the mall
This pic cracks me up. It was a really long walk from the Capitol to the Washington Monument, and I stopped to amuse myself with stupid pictures quite often. My friend was taking a pic of the Capitol, and I randomly jumped in. Thank god for wide angle lens.

Yatta!!!
It was sunset when we arrived at the Capitol, and I just wanted to sit in front of it, and then turn around to see the Washington Monument behind me. Just a beautiful and romantic sunset.

newseum
This is my favorite museum so far. It costs $18 to get in, but so worth the money. The interactive stuff is great, and there is a whole floor on the first amendment. You can also video yourself as a reporter, which I didn't have time to do, but really wanted to do.
These are pieces of the Berlin Wall, brought in from Germany to preserve the history. There is also a checkpoint guard tower, but I couldn't get a good shot of it. The color graffiti on the wall is from a famous artist, but I forgot to jot down his name.
View from the rooftop terrace of Newseum. This building sits on top of the hotel that Lee Harvey Oswald stayed in when he assassinated Abe Lincoln.

GalleryPlace Chinatown / American History Museum
Walking around Chinatown, I realized that the only Chinese, or even Asian, people around me were in the restaurants working! Right past these gates is a Spanish tapas restuarant and Fuddruckers. Oh well, this side of the gate had dim sum and wonton soup, so I got what I was looking for.

Pranks
I can't stop laughing even though this prank is really mean.
This guy fills his girlfriend's blowdryer with baby powder, hides in the closet, and waits.

but this one is really really funny...mostly because he reminds me of me in the mornings. My brother use to shake me really hard to wake me up to take him to school. I use to punch him just like that...in my sleep.
