black magic woman

We went to Magic Castle in Hollywood for a close friend's surprise birthday dinner and magic show. If you have ever been there, you would know that the dress code is er...of high caliber. Gentlemen in suits, ladies in cocktail dresses. I laughed when I read that women have to be in cocktail dresses, evening gowns, pant suits...or leather pants?! How unbelievably awesome. I opted for the safety outfit as always when I'm in LA. I have learned that in partying in LA, one must be comfortable as well as fashionable. You are walking insane amounts of places like partying/dancing it up in a posh club, and then standing in line at Pink's Hot Dogs at 2am. Because of the wide range of activities that I could be doing without a change of clothing, I opt for simple, comfortable, black. On that, I just got this Theory dress at the outlet Theory store and was dying to wear it somewhere awesome. It's so simple, yet so elegant and chic. I can add any accessory so here, I paired it with a gifted necklace, some black and gold jewelry, and a red Aldo clutch. I went for a lot of jewelry because the dress is so simple, but I ended up taking the necklace off since I was carrying too many presents and running around making sure the birthday girl doesn't see me until the surprise time.

easter outfit

This kid is ridiculously awesome. She is so intelligent, and well behaved. She never cries, and lets everyone hold her. She doesn't want to crawl, even at almost 8 months, but wants to stand all the time. She's teething and biting everything in front of her, including other babies.
These are the only shoes that fit her. Time to go shopping again.

dress from H&M
Teething = hands full of saliva and biting everything else
 H&M hat
favorite sitting position = buddha pose

motorcycle leather

I thrifted this jacket at Buffalo Exchange this past weekend, and have worn it everyday since. It's like new, the leather is so thick and amazing. Even better, I got it for $30!!!!!!  I was trying on leather jackets for a week prior to finding this but didn't buy anything due to the price. I scored this jacket straight out of luck. The woman behind me had her eyes set on this jacket and was mad dogging me the whole time until I left the store!

Love the rebellious edge the jacket brings out in any outfit. I paired it with satin skirts, flowered maxis, and just plain jeans. Such a versatile piece.

This post is a few days late, but I haven't had the desire to blog much lately. I haven't gone anywhere, taken any pictures, nor done much of anything in the last week really, so blogging was left on the backburner while I catch up on my reading and watching TV.  Last Thursday, however, my two best girlfriends from high school came over to hang out, cook, drink wine, and catch up. We hit up the local Trader Joes, bought everything we could possibly want for dinner [which is a lot], and went to town.

Can't cook without wine and cheese appetizers!

Pasta/tortelinni with cheese, zucchini, yellow squash, spinach, mushrooms, and tofurkey. We added blackened shrimp to the dish as well. The avocados are from my parents' garden.

There are few things in life that surpass the value of girlfriends.  My father taught me the value of friendship through his own life and relationships, and I have taken it to heart. I'm not saying guy friends are less improtant, but being the only girl in my family, there is something to be said for having a group of girls that will always be there for you, through thick and thin.  I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful girlfriends in my life. These two, however, are my longest friendships [since we were 14-15!]. Leanne is a successful wedding photographer and illustrator, Kat is going to be a [traveling?] lawyer, and I may choose both of those professions in the future! Although we are all drastically different in style, personality, and life choices, we remain, to this day, the best of friends.

anthony bourdain in malaysia

"I'm not an expert on the places I visit. I'm not an authority. I'm a traveler, a visitor, an enthusiast. Is it possible to feel hollow and enriched at the same time?

Travel isn't always pretty, or comfortable. Sometimes i hurts, breaks your heart even. But it's ok. It changes you. It should change you. It leaves mark on your memory, your heart, your consciousness, and even on your body. You take something with you, and hopefully, you leave something good behind. Where to next? Your guess is as good as mine."

jessica pumps

I am extremely loyal to Nordstrom, and when I saw these Jessica Simpsom pumps on sale at Macy's, I ran over to Nordstrom to see if they would match the price. Of course they did! The service at Nordys is amazing. They didn't have them in the store, so they special ordered them for me, delivered to my house for free!  These just came in the mail today, and are so pretty!  I own another pair of Jessica Simpson pumps, but they are too painful to wear for long periods of time. These, however, one of the most comfortable heels and is perfect for work and out on the town too!!! It's called the "jessica" pump in matte leather.

bebe sport

 bebe sport jacket
A few years ago, I bought my first bumble bee yellow Bebe Sport jacket and matching yoga pants. I'm totally hooked on the amazing athletic fabric but I can only purchase their stuff when they go on clearance sale. I love the Lululemon gear too, but their prices are insane. I just can't justify that much for something I sweat in...but when I think about it, I actually wear this stuff a lot more than expensive dresses and get much more use for my money. Logically, it's better to invest in atheletic gear and it also motivates you to hit the gym or classes much more now that you look awesome!

flowered maxi

Maxi dresses are back. I have a few in my closet already, but nothing this flowery. As always, comfort is a must. I don't believe in beauty being painful. The length is so perfect, not too long to wear flip flops. Overall, well worth the cheap bargain price.
